The causalities is now reported as high as 120. Still hundreds are believed to be buried under rubble. As per the local reports, few villages are completely wiped out.

Over 73 people have been reported dead in the massive earth quake in Italy. Measuring 6.2 magnitude, stuck at 3:36 AM, about 100 kilometres north-east of Rome.

Majority of the casualties are from a town called Accumoli.  Several people are still reported to be buried under rubble, while volunteers as well as defence officials are working relentlessly to save as many as possible. The death toll is expected to rise.

Civil Protection Department of Italy confirmed that 73 people are confirmed dead, while several hundred are reported to be injured. Several roads are severely damaged. It is still unclear whether government officials have been able to reach to every village.
